International Schools

 

 

  1. Students must be attending an accredited medical school located in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. Students studying in the United States must be attending a LCME accredited institution or an AOA accredited Osteopathic Medical School. See Eligible International Schools.
  2. Students must be attending medical school at a campus located in one of the above listed countries; students studying in affiliated campuses located offshore are ineligible.
  3. Canadian citizens are ineligible if they are studying in countries other than those identified
  4. Students must be in their final year of medical school at the time the elective(s) take place. Applicants who will have successfully completed their penultimate year ARE eligible during their semester break/vacation between their penultimate and final year if they have completed the applicable core rotation(s) as listed below.
  5. By the time of the requested Elective, an applicant must have successfully completed a core rotation in the specialty/discipline(s) for which he/she is applying or is confirmed into, with the exception of the following Departments:
  • Public Health (completion of FP is preferred)
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Orthopedics
  • Pathology
  • Medical Genetics
  • Radiology
  • Urology (a General Surgery core rotation is sufficient)

 

NOTE: Pediatric electives in the Vancouver area require all visiting students have their core rotation  completed in general pediatrics.
