The UBC VFMP Class of 2015 organized the 9th annual Run for Rural Medicine on March 23 at Jericho Park. This annual event is a 5k and 10k road race fundraiser that supports rural medical training while bringing public awareness to the shortage of physicians in rural BC. It was a gorgeous day out at Jericho and over 205 registrants, dressed in their tight and bright costumes coursed along Jericho beach and park. There were many draw prizes and prizes for winners and best dressed. Some prizes included various gift cards and apparel. Each person also left with a free yoga pass and T-shirt. After running, participants were able to enjoy an array of delicious food items including muffins, bananas, coffee, juice and cookies as well as visit the Canadian Blood Services booth where they were able to sign up to donate blood. This year, the event was extremely successful and ended up raising over $3500!
