2012 Spring Gala: the legacy continues…

Simon Woo, VFMP 2012

18 years ago, Dr. Andrew Seal (colorectal surgeon, previous Dean of Student Affairs and proponent for arts in medicine), pioneered an event where the performing talents of medical students could be showcased and proceeds would be donated to a local charity.  As years went by, the scale and quality of the show grew.  Now, we have performances which include music, dance and even martial arts.  The gala MCs are always classy, engaging and humorous.  Students, faculty, alumni and other friends of the faculty look forward to participating in this highly acclaimed annual event.

Spring Gala 2012 was a huge success, setting a new standard in the minds of those who support the event year after year.  We managed to fill every seat in the Chan Centre for the first time ever.  There were over 190 performers putting on 22 different performances.  The number of student participants from our distributed sites this year surpassed every other.  Finally, the money raised for charity was at least 50% more than our past years.

The Spring Gala committee would sincerely like to thank everyone who participated and hope that you will continue your participation for years to come.  If the Gala is new to you and you have not had a chance to see any of our performances, check out our website, which has some footage and photos of our performances. We hope to have you join our show or come watch our show in the coming years and allow this gala legacy to continue.
