Teaching Opportunities

Teaching our next generation of physicians remains a crucial component of the Faculty of Medicine’s Strategic Plan, Building the Future. Our teachers inspire our learners and are the role models for the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Becoming Clinical Faculty

Clinical faculty are teachers, both physicians and health professionals, who educate medical students and inspire them to stay and practice in BC. Clinical faculty teach students in all years of the program.

A UBC faculty appointment is a requirement for all teachers in the Undergraduate Medical Education Program.

Accreditation standards require all physicians who supervise UBC students to hold a UBC clinical faculty appointment (CFA). A CFA is also required to receive compensation for teaching UBC students.

Each Department has a Departmental Clinical Faculty Appointment and Promotion Committee which varies in composition according to Departmental needs.  For more information on clinical faculty appointments, visit the clinical faculty section on the Faculty of Medicine’s website or contact your department.
