A frequent question amongst prospective applicants is, “does it matter when I submit my application?” Like answers to many admissions questions, do not necessarily believe everything you read or hear from fellow applicants or from those who were admitted in a previous year. You obviously have to check very carefully that all the information you entered in your application is correct before you submit, but with the June 1 cut-off for non-academic activities, there is no reason to wait! The sooner you submit, the sooner you can ensure that your transcripts and any other required documentation has been received by our office. Besides the sooner you submit, the sooner we can begin to evaluate your application. If there is something we need to follow up with you, we can do so in a timely manner. You don’t want the frustration of your application being made ineligible because of a missing transcript for a three credit course you took as a visiting student four years ago, which you had forgotten about until we notice it on your home institution’s transcript. We know it’s human instinct, but for your peace of mind, please do not wait until the last few days or even weeks to submit. Submit early and you can relax for the rest of the summer.
I wanted to know when can we expect the full MED 2015 Admissions Statistics to be posted?
Thank you
In the fall, after classes have started and we have the full class confirmed.
Hi,
Do applicants who submit earlier have any advantage over those who submit later (other than, as you mentioned, time to review errors etc.)? Or are all applicants treated equally regardless of submitting date
Thanks
Other than good karma and peace of mind… no, this year we’re not offering incentives to applicants who submit early. But why wait? If you’ve thoroughly checked your application for mistakes and typos, just submit! The best way for us to ensure that all of your documents are in order is for you to submit early, send all of your transcripts and other supporting documentation in and have us confirm in time for you to request or submit new documents if they get lost in the mail. Nothing is worse than being disqualified for a missing document!
Hello,
For non-UBC post-secondary academic transcripts, do we need to have them directly transferred from the respective institutions to UBC or can we drop off those official transcripts by hand at the UBC MD Undergrad Admissions office?
Cheers,
Tom
You can drop them off or mail them to us yourself, as long as the transcripts stay in the original, sealed envelope provided by the institution.
Hi,
For non-UBC students who need to get AP transcripts mailed to you, do we have to mail it together with our other supporting documents, or can we have College Board mail it to you themselves separately from our supporting documents?
Either or, but given that there have sometimes been problems with our office receiving AP or IB transcripts (they have been known to be sent to Enrollment Services instead of to our address) – if they are sent to your home address and then to us (still in their sealed envelopes) it might be slightly safer.
Hello,
I was wondering when submitting dates for when a course was taken if we had to submit the exact day of the course start or end? Because I have taken a college course during my high school years as it was offered as an after school special class but I cannot recall the exact day I started the course or ended it. Also when submitting dates for classes that were taken do we enter in for the “course end date” the last final exam we took for the course or the actual end of the semester?
Thanks!
Exact day not necessary – if in doubt put the 1st as a start date and 30th or 31st as the end date. The course end date would be the actual end of the semester, not final exam date.
Hi,
I’m planning on using my secondary school transcript as proof of BC residency. Does this need to be in a sealed and signed envelope? Or is it okay if I just drop off the transcript I was given at the graduation ceremony?
Thanks!
The secondary school transcript must be an official copy in a sealed envelope. You can order transcript copies from the Ministry of Education; please see the Help Guide for their website address.
