The UBC Faculty of Medicine’s Undergraduate Program was recognized last summer with the Premier’s Award for Promoting Innovation and Excellence. We received our official certificate today!
From the B.C. Public Service YouTube Channel:
In 2004, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) launched an innovative, distributed medical education program in collaboration with the B.C. government, the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of Victoria and the six health authorities in B.C.
The decision to distribute UBC’s medical program with partner universities ensured the province’s goals were met faster and in a more cost-effective and efficient way. This province‐wide partnership opened up new opportunities in medical education and led to a doubling of first year undergraduate medical spaces.
The expansion and distribution of the postgraduate program has kept pace with the growth in undergraduate studies. The collaborative and innovative approach used in making this project happen, has created more opportunities for students, Aboriginals and the citizens of B.C. This partnership represents the future of how we do our business, with more combined effort, strategic thinking and remarkable results.
