Budgeting

In order to minimize debt load upon graduation, students should maintain a personal budget and reduce expenses where possible.

The Student Affairs Student Financial Assistance Officer is available to assist MD undergraduates with program budgeting and individual financial planning for their education.

Financial Workshops are held during the summer before the Fall session starts. These workshops are used to teach students how to apply for student loans, information about student lines of credit, as well as how and when to apply for UBC Bursaries and scholarships.

These workshops also include information on what to expect financially and how to budget while being in medical school for 4 years. These workshops can also be done via telephone or videoconference for students that are out of province. Please contact the Student Financial Assistance Officer to reserve your seat in the workshop.
