Fourth Round of Offers Sent

By Admissions on Jun 08, 2012 The fourth round of offers were sent yesterday, with a deadline of Monday at noon. As always, congratulations to the newest members of MED 2016! While the waitlist is still moving, fewer and fewer spaces are available so we anticipate future rounds will be smaller and faster (meaning shorter deadlines). Because of this we are going to stop updating the blog after each round. Unfortunately, although we are getting there, we still aren’t at a place where we can shorten the waitlist quite yet. Not sure when this is going to be possible but we will definitely update the blog when it happens. We’re hoping that it will be by the end of the month. Permalink | 8 Comments

Second Round of Offers Sent

By Admissions on May 25, 2012

The second round of offers has been sent!  Congratulations to everyone receiving an offer.  The deadline for this round is Wednesday, May 30, at 12:00 p.m., so the next round will be sent sometime after this date (the exact date and time is not yet determined).  We will update the blog after the next round.

Applicants who accepted an offer to a less-preferred site and wish to stay there instead of accepting an offer to a more-preferred site, please email us through the online application system.  This is allowed – we just need to give you some special instructions.

Receiving Regrets

By Admissions on May 08, 2012

Unfortunately, regrets happen.  Our program is hard to get into and there really just aren’t enough spots for everyone.  You can be smart, you can be nice, you can be caring and involved and good at the MCAT – you can be everything we seem to be looking for and still not get in. Please don’t take it as personal rejection if you receive regrets.  Our decision isn’t meant to be a comment on your potential or suitability for medicine; instead, it’s a reflection of how well your application matched up with our unique selection criteria and process.  We believe we select good applicants and we stand behind our process.  However, we fully recognize that we reject good applicants, too.  Thank you for considering UBC, and thank you for all of your work and participation in this year’s cycle.

For applicants given regrets, after you receive the notification email you will be able to check your scores on the Application Status page.  We get a lot of questions about the AQ Score, but as long as your OGPA (or AGPA if applicable) is correct, your AQ Score is correct.

We welcome you to apply again next year if you are still interested in pursuing medicine at UBC.  The application will open on June 1.

2011/2012 Application Printable Until May 31

By Admissions on May 04, 2012

Applicants from 2011/2012, you can save a copy of your application in PDF format from now until May 31, 2012 at 12:00 pm PDT.  The link to the PDF is accessible though the online application system.  It’s on the Application page, right underneath the green checkmarks.

This is the only way you’ll be able to have a copy of your application for the future.  Your 2011/2012 application will not be available online after May 31st, and the Admissions Office will not be able to provide you with a copy.  Please save and/or print your application this month!  Even if you’re not planning to apply again, we strongly recommend saving a copy just in case you need to refer to it later.
